Despite Tinubu’s intervention, Wike vows to fight Fubara, says ‘heaven will not fall’

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has vowed not to give up on Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara in their continuing power struggle.

The Rivers State House of Assembly is impeaching Fubara, who had a falling out with Wike, his predecessor, according to Platinum Times.

Impeachment proceedings against the governor had been started by several House members and Wike’s supporter, Speaker of the Assembly Martin Amaewhule.

The Majority Leader of the House, Ehie Edison, who is thought to be a loyalist of Fubara, had been suspended by Wike’s friends.

Speaking on Tuesday during a meeting regarding the situation in Abuja between the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party and the governors elected on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform, Wike emphasized that the struggle would go on even if the sky fell.

Wike said,

“You know I will not agree. If heaven will come down, let heaven come down so that everybody will be at rest.

“Anybody who knows me knows too well: what I’ll never take is threat. You know I will not agree. If heaven will come down, let heaven come down so that everybody will be at rest.

“Let’s do things right. He said they should bring N20 billion every month; that’s politics. But nobody said this when I was fighting. If you like, accuse me.”

This is coming despite reports that President Bola Tinubu has resolved the crisis.

The planned impeachment has caused chaos in the state as party supporters have continued to stage protests in Port-Harcourt, the capital city.
