FCT: Wike to collaborate with Cuba, Mexico, on Healthcare, Agriculture, others

Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has emphasized the FCT Administration’s willingness to engage with the governments of Cuba and Mexico in the fields of health, agriculture, and tourism.

Wike made the announcement at separate meetings in his office on Thursday, November 23, 2023, with the Cuban and Mexican ambassadors to Nigeria, Miriam Morales Palmero and Alfredo Miranda Ortiz, respectively.

Wike also stated that the FCT Administration is willing to collaboration with both countries in the area of skill acquisition as part of the government’s attempts to create jobs for youths in the FCT.

He stated that the FCT has large arable area suited for farming and would be eager to harness Cuban and Mexican experience to enhance the FCT’s agricultural sector.

The minister further guaranteed that the FCT, as Nigeria’s capital and host to all of the country’s embassies, will continue to make the city welcoming to visitors, particularly the diplomatic community.

While thanking the Cuban Envoy for his visit, Wike stated that Nigeria and Cuba have a long history, and that many Cubans can trace their ancestors back to Africa, specifically Nigeria.
