FCTA: Protest rocks Abuja over removal of UMTC MD by Wike
The decision of the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, to fire the Managing Director of the Abuja Urban Mass Transport Company, Najeed Abdulsalam, has sparked protests in Abuja.
The company’s employees are actively protesting the dismissal of the agency’s MD.
Wike, the FCT Minister, ordered the removal of heads of FCT agencies and parastatals on Wednesday.
Wike authorized the immediate termination of the appointments of 21 heads of FCT Administration (FCTA) parastatals, agencies, and government corporations on Wednesday.
Anthony Ogunleye, his Director of Press, Office of the Minister, confirmed this in a statement.
Wike further directed that the affected appointees turn over their offices’ affairs to the most senior officers in rank.
AUMTCO employees were in tears as they opposed Abdulsalam’s removal.
