Early Life
Femi Gbajabiamila is from the Yoruba tribe and was born in Lagos State on the 25th of June, 1962 to Mr Lateef and Mrs Olufunke Gbajabiamila.
Family
He is a Muslim and married to Salamatu Gbajabiamila, the union is blessed with children.
Education
His elementary education started at Mainland Preparatory School before he proceeded to Igbobi College in 1973, where he completed his secondary education.
He studied for a degree in Law in the University of Lagos and was subsequently called to bar in 1984 after his graduation in 1983.
Femi went further to obtain his Doctorate degree fom Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School in Georgia, USA, he excelled in the Georgian bar exam in 2001, and set up a law firm in Atlanta.
He played active role in the election of Bill Campbell who later went on to become Mayor of Atlanta while he was in the United States.
Career
Being a graduate of law, Femi worked with Bentley Edu & Co, a law firm in Lagos before he established his Chambers, Femi Gbaja & Co.
Political History
Gbajabiamila was selected to represent the Surulere Constituency of Lagos State in 2003 on the platform of the Defunct Alliance for Democracy after which he was re-elected in 2011.
He also was the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives in the 7th National Assembly.
He chaired the ad-hoc committee of the House of Representatives investigating claims by the Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) about the 140.9 billion naira (about $1 billion) debt owed by ‘Zenon Petroleum & Gas Limited’ and ‘Forte Oil Plc’.
Gbajabiamila was elected speaker in the 9th National Assembly House of Representatives with 283 votes, while his opponent Mohammed Umar Bago came in second with 78 votes. He showed dedication and commitment to national matters and was regarded as an excellent law maker.
He resigned as a member of the House of Representatives on 14 June 2023 after serving two decades in the legislative field and assume office as Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.

Femi Gbajabiamila was given a Nigerian national honor of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) by President Muhammadu Buhari in October, 2022.
