Fresh leadership crisis rock Rivers IPAC

Solsuema Osaro, the Rivers State Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, has labeled Aaron Chukwuemeka, the Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State, as an imposter claiming to be IPAC’s state chairman.
Osaro, the Rivers State chairman of the Social Democratic Party, was reacting to the recent visit to the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC, by the self-proclaimed IPAC state chairman, Chukwuemeka, and chairmen of some political parties in the state, including Tony Okocha, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Caretaker Committee.
The Chukwuemeka faction of IPAC paid a visit to RSIEC to assess its level of preparation for the upcoming local government elections.
In an interview with Platinum Times, the SDP chairman stated that the national selected him as the state chairman of IPAC after the executives led by previous PDP chairman, Ambassador Desmond Akawor, were dissolved in 2023.
Osaro called for Chukwuemeka, the PDP’s state chairman, to resign for misleading the public.
He said,
“I wish to state categorically that Mr. Aaron Chukwuemeka, the less than three acting PDP state chairman, is not the chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Council, Rivers State.
“I am the recognised IPAC chairman since July 26, 2023, when the national leadership of IPAC appointed me to fill the vacuum that was created upon the dissolution of the state executive of IPAC led by Ambassador Desmond Akawor.
“I want the general public to know that Mr. Chukwuemeka Aaron is an impostor. He is a political bandit on the highway of IPAC.
“He is not fit to be the chairman of PDP in Rivers State because he has lied to the public, he has deceived the party he is leading, and he has deceived the people of Rivers State.”
Platinum Times had in 2023 sighted a letter from the national leadership of IPAC, confirming him as the new chairman of IPAC in the state, and the dissolution of the Akawor-led executives.
The Akawor-led executive was dissolved after it adopted a singular governorship candidate for the March 18, 2023, election.
