Funke Akindele, a Nollywood actress and filmmaker, has shattered records with her new film ‘A Tribe Called Judah,’ which grossed N613 million in its first two weeks of release.
With this recent development, Funke keeps her title as “Box Office Queen” and owns the three highest-grossing films of all time.
Sharing the wonderful news, the actress rushed to Instagram to express her gratitude to God and Nigerians, noting that she is speechless over the love and support.
She stated,
“Thank you very much, Lord!” Thank you very much, Nigeria. “I’m at a loss for words.”
Battle on Buka Street, Funke Akindele’s 2022 release, is now the highest-grossing Nollywood film ever.
The comedy-drama made $655,309,506 after 12 weeks in theaters, according to data from the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN).
Battle on Buka Street, starring Funke Akindele, Nkem Owoh, Mercy Johnson, and Sola Sobowale, portrays the narrative of family conflict.
In addition, Funke Akindele and her husband, JJC Skillz, directed the comedy ‘Omo Ghetto: The Saga’, which was released in 2020.
Funke Akindele plays a young lady who must choose between staying in the ghetto with her friends and enjoying the nice lifestyle afforded by her affluent adopted mother in the film.
It dominated the Nigerian box office for ten weeks, earning N636 million.
Many Nigerians have congratulated her on social media, with some mentioning how the actress failed in politics while still flourishing in her craft.
