Giroud’s header gives Milan vital victory over PSG

The season’s first Champions League goal was scored by Olivier Giroud.
AC Milan defeated Paris St-Germain in Group F thanks to a thunderous header from Olivier Giroud, which marked the Italian team’s first Champions League victory of the year.

Five minutes into the second half, the French attacker headed home Theo Hernandez’s cross to seal the victory.

PSG’s first goal came from Milan Skriniar, who scored at the back post after Marquinhos’ flick.

After Giroud’s original attempt was parried, Rafael Leao quickly equalized with a close-range overhead kick.

Milan is currently third in the group with five points, one more than Eddie Howe’s team, while PSG is now second in the group with six points, one behind leaders Borussia Dortmund who defeated Newcastle earlier on Tuesday.

With this victory, Milan, the runners-up from the previous season, will still have a chance to advance to the next round when they visit Dortmund on November 28.

When former goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma made his first visit back to the San Siro after his contentious transfer to PSG two years ago, the home crowd booed him loudly and tossed fake money at him.

This season, Milan outperformed their past Champions League results, forcing Donnarumma to make excellent saves on free kicks from Fikayo Tomori and Hernandez.

But the hosts’ night ended bitterly as Christian Pulisic was substituted out due to a hamstring injury sustained in the last moments of play.
