Hakeem Odumosu breaks since on appointment as EFCC chairman
Hakeem Odumosu, a former Assistant Inspector General of Police, has denied being chosen by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to lead the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
According to allegations that surfaced on Tuesday, Tinubu had named Odumosu to succeed Abdulrasheed Bawa as the head of the anti-corruption agency.
But in a brief statement on Wednesday morning, the former police chief referred to rumours of his appointment as “totally untrue.”
Insisting that the public completely ignore the information, he claimed that it must have come from nefarious individuals.
Odumosu said: “I have been inundated with so many calls and messages between yesterday and today on a purported “EFCC Appointment”.
“I just want to use this opportunity to debunk this information and say it’s totally untrue.
“This information must have emanated from Mischief Makers and should be totally disregarded.”
