I inherited “a run-down system” from Oyetola – Governor Adeleke claims
Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State has stated that Gboyega Oyetola left him in charge of a dilapidated system, and he saw an unparalleled degree of decay as soon as he took office.
Ademola claimed that nothing was operating when he took government in the areas of sports, health, infrastructure, and education, among other things.
A verbal duel between the governor and his predecessor had recently broken out over claims of financial irregularities and improper use of state cash and properties.
The two parties’ dispute stemmed in part from Oyetola, the current Interior Minister, allegedly converting public property to private ownership and from the state’s N407,32 billion debt portfolio.
Adeleke stated, “I inherited a rundown system, a state where virtually nothing was working,” in a series of postings on his verified X handle on Tuesday. What we encountered within was not quite as bad as the decay we observed outdoors. I really did mean it when I stated nothing is working.
In addition, Governor Adeleke charged that his predecessor had vandalized and plundered official buildings.
“Schools, health centers, infrastructure, sports, and the civil service were not functioning,” he declared. The governor’s office, known as the “white house,” resembled a black home. Despite claims of repair before our accession of government, the Government House was like a crap house. The government offices were broken into and vandalized.
Adeleke claimed he inherited a “huge and paralyzing debt,” claiming that pensions and salaries owing to workers were unpaid.
According to the governor, the public service has been completely transformed into a confusing area.
Adding, however, that when he took office a year ago, he “essentially started all over from scratch.”
“Every aspect of Osun society has been rebuilding over the past year,” he said.
We tried to talk to Oyetola’s assistant, Ismail Omipidan, about the concerns brought up, but his phone would not connect.
