Katsina government plans recruitment of 7,000 permanent teachers

Roughly 7,000 permanent teachers from the 34 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Katsina State are expected to recruited into service by the state government.

Governor Dikko Radda’s chief press secretary, Ibrahim Kaula, made this known in a statement released in Katsina on Saturday.

Faruk Lawal-Jobe, the state’s deputy governor, reportedly remarked this at the inauguration of the committee in charge of overseeing the hiring exam, according to Mr. Kaula.

According to Mr. Lawal-Jobe, the state administration intended to hold recruitment tests for S-POWER teachers with the goal of making them permanent educators.

He claims that there are already 5,000 NCE/Diploma holders teaching in primary and secondary schools throughout the state, along with 2,000 S-POWER graduates.

According to Lawal-Jobe, the project is a part of the government’s commitment to raising educational standards.

“It is also aimed at ensuring that qualified and competent educators are entrusted with shaping the future of Katsina students.”

He emphasised the importance of reviewing the recent recruitment process, which aided the employment of 3,889 teachers by the state Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

“These individuals will also be required to undergo the same recruitment examinations to ensure that only competent and qualified candidates are absorbed into the teaching service,” he said.

The deputy governor said that rigorous methods will be employed throughout the recruitment process to uphold fairness and integrity.

Earlier, the secretary to the state government, Ahmad Dangiwa, urged the committee to discharge their duties with utmost fairness and impartiality.

The committee, chaired by Sabi’u Ɗahiru, with Lurwanu Haruna-Gona as secretary, has been granted a four-week period to complete and submit its report.
