Biography

Kenneth Okonkwo belongs to the Igbo tribe, he was born in the ancient city of Nsukka, Enugu state on 6th November,1968.

His parents, Mr Ozioko Francis and Mrs Beatrice Okonkwo had him after the Biafran war.

He is a father of two sons, Ifeanyi and Kenechuku Okonkwo from his first wife, Ogechi Ezekiel (espoused) and his present wife Ifeoma Okonkwo respectively.

Education

Kenneth has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

He studied for a Master’s in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos after which he was called to Bar.

He is also a trained clergy with a certificate in Theology from the Nigerian Bible School.

Career

Over the years, he has made a name for himself by featuring in home screens and playing lead roles in romantic, ritual as well as comic movies.

His debut was when he played the character of Captain John Mark in the soap opera “Ripples.” However, he did not gain much recognition until he starred in the hit film “Living In Bondage” which brought him to limelight and since then has featured in different roles in various home movies alongside other actors.

His passion and commitment to his career has earned him national and international recognitions.

Political History

Owing to a burning desire to grow Nollywood, Kenneth Okonkwo joined politics in 2014 when he ran for the Nsukka/Igbo Eze South Federal Constituency position in the House of Representatives on the People’s Democratic party (PDP) platform.

However, in 2022, he switched to the Labour party where he was appointed the presidential aspirant spokesperson.

The Africa Movie Academy Award on a Special Recognition of Pillars of Nollywood, 2013.

Special recognition award by the City People Entertainment Awards for his contribution to the growth of entertainment in Nigeria, 2015.
