Mali’s military junta has announced that the election scheduled for February of next year has been postponed owing to technological concerns.
A updated timeframe will be given at a later date, according to a statement made on Monday.
A junta spokesperson, Abdoulaye Maiga, blamed the delay on a variety of factors, including a conflict with a French business, Idemia, over a civil register data base.
Mali was set to have democratic elections in February 2020, following military coups in August 2020 and May 2021.
