Meet new APC acting chairman Abubakar Kyari

Following Senator Abdullahi Adamu’s resignation from the party’s top leadership position, Senator Abubakar Kyari (North), the APC’s Deputy National Chairman, has taken over as acting National Chairman.

At the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, Senator Kyari presided over a meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) while being accompanied by other party officials.

Senator Kyari was born on January 15, 1960, in Borno State. His father, the late Brigadier Abba Kyari, served as the military governor of North Central from 1967 to 1975.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in 1986 from the University of Tennessee Martin in the United States, then in 1989 he attended Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, to earn a master’s degree in business administration.

In 1998, Senator Kyari was elected to the House of Representatives on behalf of the now-defunct All Peoples Party (APP), and from 1999 to 2003, he served as a representative for the now-defunct United Nigeria Congress Party (UNCP).

In Borno State, he was a commissioner from 2003 to 2005 and again from 2007 to 2011. He was chosen in 2015 to serve as Borno North’s senator on the APC ticket, and he was re-elected in 2019. He served in that capacity until 2022, when he was appointed Deputy National Chairman.
