Nigeria will crash out against Cape Verde in AFCON semi-finals: fan predicts
Amadu Raheem Komba Gbandeh, a football fan, predicts that the Super Eagles would lose to Cape Verde in the AFCON semifinals.
Gbandeh surprised fans and commentators by correctly predicting the outcomes of seven of the eight Round of 16 Africa Cup of Nations games.
Gbandeh’s prophetic declarations were not only safe bets. He confidently declared Senegal’s penalty-shootout loss to Ivory Coast, Nigeria’s victory over Cameroon, and Cape Verde’s surprising win against Mauritania.
He became an instant AFCON oracle after his Facebook post detailing his pre-match predictions went viral.
“Just as I predicted, Cameroon, Namibia, Equatorial Guinea, and Egypt have all been knocked out of the AFCON,” Gbandeh wrote on social media. “What makes it even more interesting is that Egypt got ousted on penalties, just like I said a few days ago.”
His record of AFCON predictions hasn’t been perfect, with South Africa’s 2-0 victory over favorites Morocco proving one prediction incorrect. But Gbandeh is unfazed.
He confidently projected a Guinea vs. Cape Verde final, with Guinea winning after extra time. However, Guinea defeated 3-1 to DR Congo last night.
He projected Nigeria reaching the semi-finals before succumbing to Cape Verde’s domination; Cape Verde will meet South Africa later today in a quarter-final encounter.
