The Nigerian Army has a structure of ranks that is a standard practice in most military organizations around the world.

The ranks are classified into two categories;  The Commissioned Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers.

The Commissioned officers are those who joined the Nigerian Army as a graduate or those who went through the Nigerian Defence Academy, they occupy top positions and are in command of the leadership.

Non-Commissioned officers are junior officers of the Nigerian Army who are recruited using secondary school certificates and have completed the standard six-month military training program.

Nigerian Army Salary structure

The Nigerian Army salary structure is based on the Consolidated Naval Salary Structure (CONNESS) introduced in 2017.

The salary structure is divided into two categories; they are non-commission officers and commission officers.

Below is a breakdown of the monthly salaries received by the Nigerian Army personnels on a monthly basis.

Commissioned officers;

General: N1.5 million

Lieutenant General: N1 million

Major General: N950,000

Brigadier General: N750,000

Colonel:  N550,000

Lieutenant Colonel: N350,000

Major: N300,000

Captain: N220,000

Lieutenant: N180,000

Second Lieutenant: N120,000

Non-Commissioned officers;

Master Warrant Officer: N90,000

Warrant Officer: N80,000

Staff Sergeant: N68,000

Corporal: N58,000

Lance Corporal: N57,000
