Nigerian Embassy breaks silence on alleged plot by Niger Junta to shoot down Tinubu’s plane
The Nigerian Embassy in Niger Republic has dismissed rumors of a conspiracy by the military junta to prevent President Bola Tinubu’s plane from flying across the country’s airspace.
Bashir Ahmad, a former adviser to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, revealed this.
Ahmad tweeted:
“The Embassy of Nigeria in Niger Republic has denied the fake reports that the military junta prohibited President Bola Tinubu’s jet from flying in its airspace.”
According to reports, the military junta redirected Tinubu’s presidential jet to exit Niger Republic’s airspace.
Tinubu’s presidential jet was alleged to be in danger of being shot down in the country’s airspace.
The junta’s actions were not unrelated to Tinubu’s and the Economic Community of West African States’ (ECOWAS) opposition to the recent coup.
In a coup, the military deposed former President Bazoum for mismanaging the country’s resources.
