Biography
Born on the 24th of April 1964 Mr and Mrs Bassey Eno of Ikot Ekpene Udo in Nsit Ubium LGA of Akwa-Ibom State.
He had his early education at Local Authority primary school in Lagos State and got his first school leaving certificate.
He also attended St. Francis secondary school in Eket, Akwa Ibom State and Victory High School in Ikeja, Lagos State and obtained his West African Senior School Certificate.
He obtained a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Uyo.
Family
Umo Eno is the eldest of six siblings, his father was a British trained Police officer who died at an early age. Upon the demise of his father, he took on several menial jobs to make ends meet and cater for his younger siblings.
He has been married to Pastor Mrs Patience Eno for 36 years and the marriage is blessed with six children and grandchildren.
Career
He started working at an early age after his secondary education, he was given a job in Union bank which he served for some years before being offered another job at Bertola Machine Tools Nigeria Limited where he rose to the position of the company’s commercial director and this led him to establishing his own firm , Royalty Groups.
He was the chairman of Akwa-Ibom State Hotels and Tourism Board from 2004-2007 and he received many public service awards.
He is also a clergyman and founder of All Nations Christian Ministry International and he has authored several books such as; Break Forth, Exercising Your Dominion Mandate,Dream Again, Wealth Creation, God’s Way and Mark of a Disciple.
He has also published magazines and Christian journals.
During governor Emmanuel Udom administration, he was the Executive Director Agricultural Investments Directorate of Akwa-Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP) and also chaired the the establishment of the Ibom Fadama Bank to help peasant farmers in the state.
In 2021, he was given an appointment as the commissioner for lands and water resources in Akwa-Ibom State by governor Udom Emmanuel.
Having worked in all these capacities and successfully making a good name for himself, he declared his intention to run for the governorship race of Akwa-Ibom State in 2023.
He emerged victorious in the polls under the umbrella of the People’s Democratic party (PDP) and was sworn in as governor of the state in May 2023.
