Plateau massacre: Senate summons Service Chiefs

Security Chiefs have been summoned by the Senate in response to the Christmas Eve attacks on Plateau villages.
According to Platinumtimes, the event happened on December 23, 2023 and quickly escalated to 24 people while neighbors were prepared for the Christmas holiday.
During the attacks, houses were destroyed and properties were looted.
Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff; Hassan Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff; Yusuf Bichi, Director-General of the Department of State Services, DSS; and Kayode Egbetokun, Inspector-General of Police, are among those invited.

After Senator Diiket Plang, who represents Plateau Central, brought the occurrence to the notice of the Senate on Saturday, the higher legislative house agreed to call the security officials.
Plang voiced her dismay over the attacks, which have displaced many inhabitants in the afflicted communities, while moving the motion.
Senator Titus Zam of Benue North-West, who spoke during the discussion, said that the service chiefs did not understand the country’s security condition.
