Biography
Sa’idu Ahmed is an indigene of Dakku LGA of Gombe State, born on the 12th of February, 1969.
He schooled in his community before attending the University of Maiduguri where he graduated with a degree in Economics.
Sa’idu Ahmed is married and has children. He holds a honorary title of Sarkin Gabas Dukku.
Political history
Sa’idu Ahmed worked with Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Dukku Local Government Council before venturing into politics.
He served as the Executive Secretary of the Gombe State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board in 2003 before his appointment as Commissioner of information of Gombe State in 2007.
He won the Gombe North senatorial seat in the aftermath of the 2010 by-elections, representing the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Sa’idu Ahmed was re-elected in 2015 and 2019 when he switched to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Sen. Alkali lost Gombe North Senatorial seat to Former Gov. Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo in the 2023 general elections making it a rematch where he also defeated him in the 2019 general elections.
He is currently serving as the Minister of Transportation after being appointed by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
