Subsidy Hike: Gov Sule backs N8,000 palliative

According to Abdullahi Sule, the governor of Nasarawa State, the N8,000 palliative provided by the federal government will lessen the impact of the elimination of fuel subsidies on Nigerians.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, the governor said that for many poor families in the nation who seldom receive such a sum in a month, N8,000 is a sizeable sum.

He recalled how they had just been giving out N5,000 as palliatives in the past, and he noted how many people depended on the N5,000.

He emphasized that many homes relied on it to enhance their quality of life, and that some communities even pooled resources to have a significant impact in their neighborhoods.

He added, “So, N8,000 may not be so much money to some people, but it is a lot to so many other people who are from very poor families that don’t see N8,000 every month.

“So, the only thing is that let us identify those families.”
