Subsidy Palliative: FCTA shares 12,000 bags of race to over 3 million residents

Over three million Nigerians living in the six area councils of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) are now receiving 12,000 sacks of rice and corn.

During the distribution event in Kwali Area Council on Monday, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, announced that each council will receive 2,000 bags of grains and corn.

Wike added that the exercise was a part of the ongoing distribution of palliatives to vulnerable inhabitants residing in the nation’s capital, who were being represented by Bitrus Garki, Mandate Secretary, Area Council Secretariat, FCTA.

He said that the FCTA had already given part of the food items to various organizations throughout the previous two weeks.

“This includes Area Councils, representatives of 17 Chiefdoms, religious organisations, civil servants and vulnerable groups.

“The feedback we received from that exercise was incredibly encouraging, which is why we are expanding the distribution today”, he said.

According to the Minister, the exercise was to align with the renewed hope agenda of the current administration of President Bola Tinubu.

He said the administration aims to instil hope for a better future for all Nigerians.

“Under this distribution phase, we are bringing the items closer to the people, ensuring direct outreach to the vulnerable groups, taking place simultaneously in all the six Area Councils of the FCT,” he added.
