We will make FCT unbearable for bandits to operate – Wike vows
The recent kidnapping of six sisters from their home at Zuma 1 in the Bwari local council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on January 5 is one of the more recent examples of the rise in kidnapping cases in the nation.

On Wednesday, Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike declared that his administration will make it unbearable for bandits to operate within the territory.
Speaking at a town hall meeting with the chairman of the Bwari area council, the royal fathers, and Bwari residents, Wike stated that President Bola Tinubu had given him and all other service chiefs the order to investigate all viable options in order to put an end to the bandits’ kidnappings and killings of locals in Bwari and other FCT areas.
He added, “There are no room for excuses by security operatives because the President has approved the provision of all necessary tools and logistics required by security operatives to combat insecurity in the FCT.”
He appealed to the locals to provide security personnel with all the assistance they need to do their jobs well, assuring them that they will see significant changes in the security situation over the next few days.
Wike pleaded with the people of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to refrain from using social media or radio to discuss the bandits’ operations or to donate money for victims, since he claims that doing so just encourages the bandits to carry out additional operations.

The public has expressed outrage at the kidnappers’ demand of N600 million as ransom, and the police have promised to obtain the victims’ release.
