In the past months, the country have bewailed and bid farewell to prominent Nigerians from different work spheres whose contributions to nation building are worth applauding.

The Nigerian entertainment industry has been on the receiving end as a number of professionals have lost their lives through painful circumstances which cannot be averted.

In the light of all this happenings, it is vital to keep a record of the prominent people whose lives are lost since the new year 2024 started.

Here’s a concised list of famous Nigerians who have died so far since the beginning of the year 2024.

1. Deji Aderemi (Olofa Ina)

The death of ace Yoruba actor Deji Aderemi, popularly known as Olofa Ina on Thursday, 4th January, 2024 was shocking to the entertainment industry and the citizens.

He died at the age of 73 as a result of prolonged battle with cancer.

2. Ethel Ekpe

Veteran actress and media icon, Ethel Aderemi-Ekpe, who graced the Nigerian screens for years, died on Wednesday, February 7th, in Lagos State.

Her death was caused by a prolonged battle with cancer.

3. The Wigwes

Popular Nigerian banking tycoon, Herbert Wigwe, his wife Doreen and their first son, Chizi, died on February 9th, 2024 died in an helicopter crash.

The death came as a shock to Nigerians and was trending across social media platforms for some weeks until the family was laid to rest.

4. Tolani Quadri Oyebamiji (Sisi Quadri)

Sisi Quadri sadly died on March 1st 2024, at the age of 44 after battling with an undisclosed illness.

He featured on the new Netflix original, Aníkúlápó: Rise of the Spectre.

5. John Okafor (Mr Ibu)

Veteran comic actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, sadly died at age 62 on March 2nd, 2024, after suffering from a prolonged ailment that led to amputation of his legs.

The actor passed away while at the Evercare Hospital in Lagos.

6. Andy Best

Popular Nollywood producer, Andy Best died on 19th March, 2024 after a prolonged ailment.

The ugly incident took place at a private clinic in Owerri, Imo State.

7. Amaechi Muonagor

Veteran Nollywood actor, Amaechi Muonagor, was born on August 20, 1962, and died on March 24, 2024, at age 61.

His dead was caused by a severe kidney disease which he managed for a prolonged period.

8. Adejumoke Aderounmu

Popular Nollywood actress and Jenifa’s diary star, Adejumoke Aderounmu died on 8th April, 2024.

This sad event drew reactions from netizens, her colleagues and Jenifa’s diary creator, Funke Akindele as the exact cause of her death is yet to be unravelled.

9. Saratu Gidado

Veteran Kannywood comic actress, Saratu Gidado, died on Tuesday, 9 April, 2024 at the age of 56.

This was confirmed by her family as the actress died while in her sleep.

10. Jnr Pope Odonwodo

Nollywood star actor, Jnr Pope alongside three other crew members lost their lives on Wednesday 10th April, 2024 in a boat mishap.

This unfortunate event occured while crossing the Anam River in Anambra state to shoot a movie titled “the other side of life” produced by Adanma Luke.
