Breaking: Appeal court sack Abure, declares Apapa authentic LP National Chairman

Lamido Apapa was reinstated as the national chairman of the Labour Party by the Court of Appeal in Imo State on Thursday, and Julius Abure was dismissed.

According to the PUNCH on Thursday, the court also ordered the electoral commission, INEC, to accept and publish the names of all governorship candidates put out by the Apapa-led national working committee in the states of Imo, Bayelsa, and Kogi.

The court also disqualified other members of the Abure-led faction and Imo state’s Athan Achonu’s bid for governor.

The two party leaders have previously engaged in a protracted legal and leadership conflict, with each of them turning to various courts around the nation to determine who should serve as the legal chairman.

A different Appeal Court in the capital of Edo State, Benin City, confirmed Mr. Abure’s position as the party’s national chairman last week.
