BREAKING: Asue Ighodalo emerges official PDP Candidate for Edo guber poll
Asue Ighodalo, Governor Godwin Obaseki’s handpicked candidate, won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Edo Primary Election on Thursday evening, February 22, 2024, to become the party’s nominee for the September 2024 governorship election in the state.
Ighodalo, a lawyer and financial specialist, received a total of 577 votes, while all of his opponents who did not withdraw from the contest received zero votes.
Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu, who skipped the exercise in favor of a parallel congress that he won, received only one vote.
Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, the Chief Returning Officer of the primary election overseen by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), named Ighodalo the winner and the party’s candidate for the September poll.
