She is the daughter of renowned politician Alhaji Musa Musawa and is from the northern Nigerian state of Katsina.

In addition to being a barrister and attorney of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Hannatu is a qualified solicitor in England & Wales, the United Kingdom. Currently, she serves as the Minister of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Career

Musawa is a licensed Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria with extensive professional experience working in both Nigeria and the UK. She has been part-time-studying for her doctorate. She has a law degree from England and Wales University in the United Kingdom. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. She has prior experience serving as legal counsel and a litigation attorney for various private businesses. She worked as a young lawyer for the late Chief Clement Akpamgbo’s legal firm (former federation attorney general), and she temporarily supported Barrister Bala Na Allah with the Oputa Panel Human Rights Violation Commission.

She then established Hanney Musawa & Associates, where she is the Principal Partner at the moment. Since 2003, she has become a political activist.
