Early Life
Mr. Ibu was born on 17 October, 1961 in Nkanu West LGA, Enugu State.
Education
He completed his elementary school in 1974 and enrolled in the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu.
Career
He worked as a hairstylist, a photographer and also worked in a company that produces crates after his secondary education.
He later joined the movie industry and featured in over 200 Nollywood movies including Mr. Ibu whivh gained him public recognition.
Mr Ibu also ventured into music. He did music for a short period of time.
On October 15, 2020 he released his songs titled This girl and Do you know.
Some of the movies he has featured in includes; Coffin Producers, Husband Suppliers, International Players, Mr.Ibu in London, Police Recruit, 9 Wives, Ibu in Prison, Keziah amongst others.
Personal life
Mr. Ibu lost his parents at an early age and was pushed to cater for himself by engaging in menial jobs just to make ends meet.
He is a Christian and is married with children.
In October 2023, John Okafor revealed that he was suffering from an ailment that threatened to amputate one of his legs.
He solicited for financial help and prayers from his fans and colleagues because of fear of losing a leg.
However, his plea were attended to as The Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation paid off Okafor’s entire medical expenses as of 18 October 2023. The foundation also stated that Okafor still required a lot of financial assistance to sustain him in the hospital and for treatment outside the country.
In November 2023, Okafor successfully went through a leg amputation process.
His family said the amputation was done to keep him alive and speed up his recovery process.
