JUST IN: Drama as protesting Ministry of Works staffs barricade Dave Umahi inside office (photos)
On Thursday, September 28, protesting workers at the Ministry of Works confined the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, in his office.
The personnel accused Umahi of being authoritarian, alleging that the minister prohibited late-arriving employees from accessing the ministry.
The Housing and Works Ministry’s union members agreed to lock the ministry down.
Workers also barred admission and egress from the building, preventing the minister from leaving his office.
They additionally asserted that Umahi “stopped engineers and directors from doing their work, and has been breaking public service rules since his appointment, by bringing in consultants to run the affairs of the ministry.”
Williams Kudi, a union representative, told AIT that the minister has refused to meet with them to discuss their concerns.
