Early Life
Mohammed Bago was born in 1974 into a Nupe family in Niger State, Nigeria.
Education
He attended Marafa Primary School, Minna and Federal Government College, Jos.
He obtained a bachelor’s degree in political science at Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto.
He has a postgraduate diploma in management from the Federal University of Technology Minna in 2001, an MBA in economics at the Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma, in 2003, and a master’s degree in finance at University of Calabar in 2005.
He is also a distinguished alumnus from Cambridge University in the United Kingdom in 2014.
In 2020, he was Certified as a Management specialist with a distinction in Time Management from London Graduate School.
In 2001, he bagged a Doctorate degree and is a fellow of Humanity and Political Economy, African School of Diplomacy and International Relations Abuja in conjunction with ESTAM University Republic of Benin.
Career
Bago worked with several financial institutions before venturing into politics.
During this period, he gathered enough experiences and skills which inspired him for future leadership roles.
Some of the organizations he worked with includes the United Bank for Africa (UBA), First City Monument Bank (FCMB) and Afri-Bank PLC respectively.
He served as manager at First City Monument Bank.
Political career
In 2011, under the umbrella of the Congress for Progressive Change and was elected into the House of Representatives to represent Chanchaga Federal Constituency.
He was re-elected in 2015 and 2019 for a third term in office.
Throughout his stay in the Green House, he served in diligently in different House Committes.
In 2023, he contested for the governorship of Niger State in the All Progressives Congress platform and won gathering a total of 469,896 votes as against his opponent, Alh. Isah Liman Kantigi of the People’s Democratic party who scored 387,476 votes.
Personal life
Mohammed Bago is a muslim and is married with children.
His runs a Foundation through which he has rendered tangible support to indigenes of his state.
