Early Life
Olaide Adelami hails from the Yoruba tribe in Nigeria. He was born in 1958 in Owo, Ondo State to Pa and Mrs Amos Adelami.
Education
Adelami attended the renowned Imade College in Owo before proceeding to the Polytechnic, Ibadan for his GCE A level, he further proceeded to the university of Lagos where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and thereafter, a Masters in Business Administration from the Ogun State University, Ago-Iwoye.
He also took a management course at the prestigious National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos.
Career
In 1983, Aldelami was employed as an Accountant II at the Federal Civil Service where he served meritoriously for year before being transferred to the Treasury Department of the Accountant General of the Federation in 1988.
Following this position, he was redeployed to the National Assembly Provisional Office, Abuja as one of the pioneer staff of the Constituent Assembly, which subsequently became the present-day National Assembly.
While in this office, he Pioneered the establishment of the Finance and Accounts department of the National Assembly as it is now known.
He worked tirelessly in setting up Finance units for the Petroleum Special Trust Fund, the Family Support Trust Fund. He headed these departments between 1996 and 2000. Also monitored the execution and delivery of National Hospital, Abuja.
In 2000, he was appointed to the National Assembly to serve in the Finance department till 2007 when he was made a Director and thereafter a director at the Department of Procurement and Supplies.
His Sterling performances and experiences made him to be promoted to the position of Secretary (Permanent Secretary), the Directorate of Procurement, Estate and Works, a position he held until he was appointed as the Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly until his retirement in April 2018.
Politics
Following his retirement in 2018, he became an aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ondo 2020 governorship race.
Following the death of Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu in 2023 and the swearing in of Lucky Aiyedatiwa as Ondo State Governor, Adelami was picked as the Deputy Governor of the state in February 2024.
