Ondo: Tinubu wards in, resolves crisis between Gov Akeredolu, Deputy
•As parties uphold peace and the status quo

Ondo State’s warring factions resolved to sheath their swords and unify on Friday night, even as the state’s deputy, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, agreed to close ranks with his boss, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
This was in response to President Bola Tinubu’s intervention in the political crisis, which has seen actors on both sides attempt to unseat either Governor Akeredolu, who has apparently been gone from his desk for some time, or impeach Deputy Governor Aiyedatiwa.
There were reports yesterday that the Ondo State House of Assembly would declare Aiyedatiwa as Acting Governor.
According to reports, the Ondo State House of Assembly was divided, with 11 lawmakers supporting Aiyedatiwa.
According to sources, the 11 lawmakers were approached by elements outside of Ondo State.
The 11 lawmakers pushed for a legislative session yesterday, according to reports.
One of the politicians, who requested anonymity, said the meeting was part of the plot devised in Abuja with the 11 lawmakers to declare Governor Akeredolu incapacitated and Aiyedatiwa governor.
President Bola Tinubu intervened in the crisis between Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and Aiyedatiwa yesterday.
Oladiji Olamide, Speaker of the Assembly, had previously confirmed the meeting with President Tinubu, noting that the outcome of the discussion would determine the next course of action.
Speaker Oladiji stated that the purpose of Friday’s plenary was to appoint Aiyedatiwa as Acting Governor rather than to declare Akeredolu disabled.
“Our sitting was to declare Aiyedatiwa as Acting Governor. The governor is still alive.”
