It is no longer news that Hilda Baci broke the Guinness world record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
Well, this article will help you see that she didn’t do it by just having a dream and waking up to accomplish the goal.
She actually put in the work
Hilda, at 27 years of age staged a cooking marathon and cooked for 100 hours. That is approximately four (4) whole days. She is not the best chef or the most experienced but she did something different and it didn’t just happen.
This is how it happened.
SHE KNOWS WHAT SHE WANTS:
She didn’t start cooking because she was a school dropout or didn’t get a job. She did because she loves to cook, her mum is a chef by the way in Abuja. Hilda read sociology at a private university, so she graduated on time and wasn’t in the league of “I must work with my certificate”. She knew what she wanted and that is the main point of being educated.
SHE IS A FOCUSED ENTREPRENEUR
She didn’t just cook at home. She took a step forward and opened her own outfit “MyFoodbyHilda”. This didn’t come out of the blues because she had been involved in cooking for the community. During the pandemic, she cooked about 3000 meals and fed her community. She was also a manager at Breakfast King. So, she wasn’t experimenting, she was stepping up with experience.
SHE IS A MENTOR AND TEACHER IN HER FIELD
She has not just mastered the art of cooking but she has also gotten into the realm of teaching what she knows to others. She has taught over 2,500 students of hers how to cook. Starting from her first class of 30 students on Zoom. Practicing makes you better at whatever you do and she has been at it for a while.
SHE HAS NOT BEEN HIDING
Hilda may have come into the limelight with her recent record-breaking event but she has been in the light before now. She has been host to “DINE on a BUDGET” showcased on Pop Central TV and also featured in the segment “IN MY KITCHEN” on Morning Rave. She also participated in and won the Jollof Faceoff competition in Ghana in 2021.
SHE HAS BEEN CONSISTENT IN HER ENDEAVOURS
She didn’t just follow after her Igbo mum who is a chef, she explored other talents as she has appeared in a couple of movies and soap operas one of which was nominated for Best Movies at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards
SHE SET A GOAL AND MADE A PLAN
The cook-a-thon she embarked upon didn’t start this year. It ended this year. She started this plan about five (5) years ago and when you see the packaging and the sponsorship, you will know that since she is neither a super rich kid nor a super talented chef, she is definitely someone who people and companies want to invest in.
SHE IS A SUCCESSFUL SINGLE FEMALE
It is fast becoming a thing of the past that ladies ought to wait to marry successful men when they can be successful themselves.
When you see the kind of clothes that Hilda wears and her dress sense, you will know that it costs a dime-a-dozen to appear in such a manner. Sources say she has been seen driving luxury cars and owns a home. That doesn’t seem like gossip for just anybody. It will definitely attract double-sided debates but she didn’t get here today

-A female at 27 years whose mother is a cook is not expected to be this lavish, so tongues wag.
-People are sceptical of what she does asides from cooking given her social appearance, her body type and her dress sense, so tongues wag.
-The issue of her paternity comes to bear as her father is hardly in all these, so tongues wag.
-Given the Nigerian situation and the fact that most ladies at her age are into men for what they can gain or generally unserious in life, it is understandable why Hilda’s state comes under so many criticisms.
THE PROS
-A female at 27 who has attained this height has redefined the standard out there, so we hail.
-A single who is this successful without any known negativity is attractive, so we hail.
-Men and companies are definitely competing for her attention, so we hail.
-Given the fast-paced generation we are in and how young people are challenging themselves, it is commendable to have a young single Nigerian lady gain international recognition for something we consider normal and at most, trivial.
MY ANALYSIS
When I hear pastors preaching about how Hilda is dressed and all that, I wonder why they didn’t preach it years ago. It goes to show that she has attracted attention on all fronts.
While I watched her testimony at the harvesters church, I smiled because she is the sample of ordinary that became extra.
If at 27 you know what you want, you get into business, which is tougher than working for someone, you know enough of what you do to teach others, you have been consistent in all your doings and you have not been hiding in an obscure location and you can set a goal and execute a plan to challenge a world record, then you are qualified for whatever tongues wag at you.
The root word here is QUALIFIED.
